Amazing Indian Innovators And Inventions That Help Save Lives
Indians scientists have proven time and again that their innovation has driven this world further. And this is something that even the students studying at IIT¡¯s of the country have shown with their innovative creations that give us a glimpse into a brighter future. Here are some of the most amazing and innovative creations by Indians that we all should be proud of.

COVID-19 X-Ray Scanning AI
Professor Kamal Jain from IIT Roorkee has developed a COVID-19 test that uses AI to detect the novel coronavirus from an x-ray in just three to five seconds. He has trained the AI using data including over 60,000 chest x-rays (sourced from NIH Clinical Centre in the US) to make it accurate. The AI detects the presence of COVID-19 by looking at levels of chest congestion. The AI system is awaiting ICMR approvals.?
Dr. Vishal Nandigana, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Madras and his team has developed an AI system that captures brain signals and converts them into text. Dr Nandigana claims the thought to text solution can help speech impaired individuals communicate better, while the technology can also be used in decoding natural phenomenon -- chemical signals in plants that are responsible for photosynthesis process, and more. The technology is still in the prototype stage.?
Curing hypertension by modding the enzyme that causes it
Researcher from IIT Roorkee Develops Treatment For Bone Cancer In Children
Dr Swati Srivastava has discovered interactions of Ewing sarcoma -- a form of bone cancer that is found in adolescents and young adults where a tumour is formed in bone or soft tissue -- on a molecular level and proposed a treatment that stops it from spreading. Her application has shown a positive response in a study with mice.?
Painless Injection
Researchers from IIT Kharagpur have developed a new micro-needle injection that is capable of administering large drug molecules in a painless way. The needle has not only gotten considerably thinner -- diameter-wise -- but they¡¯ve also improved the overall strength of the needle that prevents it from breaking. These will be helpful in administering COVID-19 vaccines when they come out.?
Cheap hearing aids for the poor
Saad Bhamla -- an IIT Madras Alum and currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Georgia Tech, has developed a hearing aid for the elderly that can cost as cheap as $1 or around Rs 75. The hearing aid is a DIY project that involves a 3D-printed case, a small circuit board soldered to a microphone that captures the sound, an in-built amplifier to boost audio signals, as well as a frequency filter that allows for the volume to be boosted above 1000hz. It comes with a headphone jack to insert our regular headphones and a lanyard to wear it around the neck like an iPod.
Bandage that cures skin cancer
Indian Institute of Science researchers have developed a non-invasive method of curing skin cancer, which uses the alternative treatment of magnetic hyperthermia, where the magnetic nanoparticles are used to heat the tumours with the help of external alternating current magnetic fields.Preliminary testing has shown positive results as the team researches further for human trials.?
