Last year, when Apple decided to unveil four new iPhones -- the iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max and the iPhone 12 Mini, many were so excited about the form factor Mini was able to offer, especially considering the iPhones were getting larger and heavier due to their glass backs.?
However, it looks like we might not see iPhone 13 Mini this year.
This is according to JP Morgan supply chain analyst, William Yang, who has noted that the iPhone 12 Mini production might be discontinued by the Q2 of 2021.?
Reported first by AppleInsider, the discontinuation doesn¡¯t really indicate that iPhone 12 Mini will exit the market, it is just indicative that the existing inventory will still be able to keep it live in the market, albeit for a limited time.?
According to the analyst, iPhone 12 Mini productions have been reduced as much as by 11 million units. But it's not just the Mini that¡¯s seeing a reduction in production targets. iPhone 12¡¯s production has been reduced by nine million whereas the iPhone 12 Pro is expected to grow two million and eight million units respectively.?
Yang has also shed light on some predictions for the upcoming iPhone 13, which according to him are slated for the second half of 2021. He expects iPhone 13 to have four different models too, which is interesting considering iPhone 12 Mini had a rather disappointing reception, so what would replace the Mini.
He also predicted that the devices will feature smaller notch size, better battery life and better camera performance. Moreover, he also predicts that iPhone 13 would be even more successful with the supply chain expected to build 80 to 90 million units, higher than the 76 million units slated for the iPhone 12 in the second half of 2020.
He also stated that a refreshed iPhone SE -- iPhone SE3 will come only in the first half of 2022 and will feature a similar classic design, albeit with upgraded specs and storage options under the hood.?
