But according to a new rumour, that increase may halt at least for 2019, alongside the new devices getting some bonus additions.

Based on the new (unverified) rumour doing the rounds, the 2019 successors to the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, will all stick with 2018 prices. Based on this, the iPhone XR should start at $749, the XS at $999, and the XS Max at $1,099. It's still a rumour though, so don't get your hopes too high just yet.
A slightly more plausible statement has also emerged, that each of these devices will different notch sizes. Supposedly the XR will have a wider notch than the XS Max. However, prototypes are being developed with both new and original sizes, so it's unclear what the final decision will be.

Again, both these are present on different prototypes being developed, so Apple is at least considering the switch if not having decided just yet.
