While people slept, Twitter for some reason could not go to bed. So as a common remedy for such sleepless nights, it hit up an old friend -- NASA.?
Within an hour of chit chat about Earth, Wi-Fi and space snacks, the two have now set up a date and the topic of discussion would apparently be Mars.
It all started with a ¡®u up?¡¯ by Twitter to NASA¡¯s Twitter account. As can be guessed, NASA was up at the time and reverted with a ¡®What¡¯s up?¡¯ The thread of tweets that followed was like two old friends catching up after work, albeit on the micro-blogging website. Possibly even a date?
It¡¯s not weird if you are curious to find out. After all, the two never meant to keep the date a secret. That is because instead of a date between the two, the Twitter thread is supposed to announce the launch of NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover?in July to the Twitterati.
Then again, the chat turned out to be way too witty for the intended purpose. So here goes -
NASA will be launching its Perseverance rover for Mars as a part of its Mars Exploration Program. The program is meant to explore the Red Planet using robots and among other goals, try to find any potential of life on it.
The mission has been scheduled for July/ August this year because of the relative positions of Earth and Mars at the time. NASA says that it would take ¡°less power to travel to Mars at this time, compared to other times when Earth and Mars are in different positions.¡±
Attached with NASA¡¯s Mars Rover, NASA¡¯s Mars Helicopter will also be a part of the mission payload. With the launch and the subsequent exploration on the planet, the Mars Helicopter will incidentally become the first ever human made aircraft to be flown on another planet.
That is, after the mission takes off in July onboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V 541 rocket and the payload lands on the surface of Mars in February next year.
