Like Tony Stark, Richard Browning is a man of many talents.?
An ultra-marathon runner, an ex-Royal Marine reservist, and now a pioneering inventor, Browning's achievement is similar to the invention of the aeroplane. Through his human propulsion system startup called Gravity, Browning has built and patented a personal flying suit which allows anyone to just shoot up in the air and start flying. No kidding.
He is one of the speakers at the 8th edition of TEDxGateway taking place today in Mumbai. We sat down with him for a quick chat before the event. Here are excerpts from our interview:
At the moment, as with every new technology development, it needs refinement before it could be mass transit. But even the first cars were noisy, smelly, unreliable and gave little indication of the future revolution to come.
We have pioneered a hitherto 'Impossible' new form of human mobility that has the potential to revolutionize how we move, removing the dependence on mostly two-dimensional travel.
This journey has been entirely about failure. Any new development is always about trying and mostly failing. If it wasn't then either what you are trying is easy and is already known, or of likely of little value.
Dyson took 5000 prototypes before success, Edison over 1000 before the light bulb. We have iterated through the hundreds of failures as you can see from the first Ted talk footage clips and we haven't stopped failing on the way to ongoing development.
We already sold out first copg for $250k and are setting up flight training and experience labs for high net worth individuals asking to feel what a 1000bhp 'real ironman suit' really feels like!
Have a crystal ball to spot the winners amongst the hundreds of failed developments.

To fly without wings, landing and taking off wherever we like. Oh we can! Has to be flying higher, further and faster. And it's coming!
