WhatsApp got more privacy feature today! Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the ability to "Silence Unknown Callers" that would let WhatsApp users have more control over their incoming calls.
With the "Silence Unknown Callers" feature, users would be able to stop spam calls, potential scams, and calls from unknown people. The much-needed feature adds another layer of privacy to one of the most used messaging apps in the world.
According to a press release obtained by Indiatimes, the feature stop unknown calls from ringing on your device. Instead, these calls will be available in your call list in case you actually find the call of value and need to call the relevant party back.
To enable "Silence Unknown Callers" on WhatsApp, head to "Settings" on your your app. Here, click on "Privacy." As you scroll down, you'll see the option to "Silence Unknown Callers" under "Calls." Simply enable it and voila! No more spam or unknown calls will ring on your phone.

At the same time, WhatsApp has also introduced the "Privacy Checkup" feature to offer a self-assessment guide of sorts to users. This way, users can see what privacy features are available on the app and how to implement them. This way, users can streamline the level of protection they need on their device based on their account needs.

When you go to "Settings" on your WhatsApp, you'll see a "Privacy Checkup" pin on the top. Here, simply click on "Start checkup." At this point, you'll see a step-by-step guide on ways to protect your privacy on the app.
The four options available in the Privacy Checkup are as follows:
Based on whether you use your account to conduct business or for personal chats, you can choose the level of privacy you want on the account.
