Oxy Neuron India Pvt. Ltd. -- a startup incubated at SIIC (Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre) have unveiled their newest offering ¡®Magic Box¡¯ Smart Lithium wall mount portable inverter, and its first customer is none other than the Indian division of the electric carmaker Tesla.

The device was unveiled at IIT Outreach Centre, Noida with Honourable MSME Minister of State, Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, DIG, CISF Prabodh Chandra and dignitaries from IIT Kanpur including Professor Amitabha Bandyopadhyay, Dr Nikhil Agarwal -- CEO of IIT Kanpur and Mr Vikash Prakash.
The inverter claims to be 94 percent more efficient in comparison to transformer-based inverters that are available in the market. The device is IoT compatible and can be easily controlled using a smartphone.?
The inverter has been built using pure copper wiring and is powered using LiPo4 batteries with high-quality cells. It is not only compatible with solar charging capabilities but can also be used for charging EVs. The company promises a battery life of 15 years as well as a five-year replaceable guarantee.

He said in a statement, ¡°The Lipon Inverter is a new and innovative device which helps to store electricity and reduce carbon footprint at astronomical levels. Such innovations are the need of the hour especially in rural India which need much attention. The magic inverter is expected to solve the issue of electricity backup in rural India.¡±
He added, ¡°This is capable of revolutionizing the industry in the future ahead. We have received our first order of Magic Box Inverter from Tesla India. Government¡¯s support to start-ups and such innovations are a boost for our start-ups to grow and develop with more and more innovative products which are of big help for the masses at large.¡±

Tesla India recently was in the news after it requested the government to slash the import tax on its popular electric vehicles, before bringing them to the Indian market. According to sources in a conversation with Reuters, Tesla India approached PM Narendra Modi¡¯s office to seek easements as they plan on selling their vehicles in India.?
As of now, India levies an import duty of 60 percent on electric vehicles costing $40,000 or less and 100 percent on those priced above that. At these prices, Tesla cars would no longer be as affordable
However, government officials seemed to be divided with the decision of offering easements, as there are several Indian carmakers that are already trying their best to create a mark across the nation like Tata, Mahindra as well as other EV makers that are making their vehicles in India. Giving easements to Tesla would not contribute in boosting domestic EV production.?
