When Apple debuted iOS 13 this month, it made quite the error. Though the company prefers to keep its devices secret before they actually launch, this time it's leaked some details itself.
According to the first beta of iOS 13, the iPhone is getting a big change.
See that photo? That right there is the recovery screen for iOS 13. It looks slightly different than the one for iOS 12, but the detail changed is subtle. If you haven't caught it yet, it's to do with the cable.
Yep, it looks like the iPhone's traditional Lightning cable has been swapped out in the picture with what looks to be a USB Type-C cable.
This is huge news, and yet not all that unbelievable. Just last year, the iPads moved to USB-C, and the MacBook uses only this kind of connector. Putting USB-C on the new iPhone as well indicates that's something that will continue for future models too.
That means two things. For one, your older iPhone chargers will be useless if you buy the new device. It's something Apple has done far too many times before, but at least this time it's justified. Because switching to USB-C makes it universally compatible.
Think about it. With a USB-C iPhone, you'll never have to specifically seek out iPhone users when you're low on battery and hoping they're carrying a charger. Instead, any newer Android user's charger will do too.
Originally spotted by Apple enthusiast Rapha?l Mouton, that icon could be a huge change for iPhone users. However, there are also still doubts. For one, it looks like the cable is "connecting" to a MacBook, which some users take to indicate it's just the end of a Lightning to USB-C fast charger. That is still possible, but we're hoping it's not true.
