As we reported earlier this week, After Airtel and Vodafone-Idea, Reliance Jio is soon going to increase the tariffs for its prepaid plans. And now we finally have the plan details with us.
On average, the pricing is 39 percent higher than what was previously charged, which can really pinch the consumer¡¯s wallets. However, Jio also states that with this price hike, they¡¯re offering 300 percent increase in additional benefits too.
According to the new tariffs, Jio customers will now be paying Rs 555 for 84-day validity and 1.5 GB of data per day, whereas earlier they were paying Rs 399 for similar benefits.
These plans also get FUP or fair usage policy where calls from Jio to Jio would be considered free, however, calls to other networks will cost you. Each plan has a designated amount of minutes for a specific month. The moment someone crosses the threshold, they¡¯ll be charged 6p per minute.
Reliance Jio has also spiked the price of Rs 153 plan to Rs 199, the Rs 198 plan will now cost Rs 249; Rs 299 plan to Rs 349, Rs 349 plan to Rs 399, Rs 448 to Rs 599, Rs 1,699 plan to Rs 2199, and Rs 98 plan to Rs 129.?
When comparing monthly plans being offered from competing brands, Reliance Jio¡¯s Rs 199 plan of 28 days validity, (offering 1.5 GB per day) is around 25 percent cheaper. Vodafone-Idea and Airtel provide the same for Rs 249.?
These plans still get access to all Jio apps like Jio TV, Jio Cinema, Jio Saavn etc.?
The new plans go into action starting December 6, 2019. So in case your recharge is up, now would be the perfect time to get a quarterly or even a yearly plan on old prices till you get affected by the new ones.
