Twitter wants to keep the good vibes rolling in! Apparently, Twitter is working on a "vibe" feature. In essence, it'll allow users to set a status and is codenamed "Vibe."
Spotted first by researcher Jane Manchun Wong, the potential feature would allow users to set a status akin to other social media platforms like Facebook. However, it'll not appear like a Tweet on the feed but will instead be pinned right beneath a user's name.
According to Wong's Tweets, the feature will appear as "set a status" in the Tweet composer box. Clicking on it will lead users to five pre-set vibes including "shopping grocery" and "driving highway." For starters, we're glad that Twitter is still testing it, for these options seem very dated.?
?As mentioned by The Verge, there is no clarity on whether users would be able to customise updates based beyond Twitter's limited offerings.?As is true for all-things-Twitter, the feature could never see the light of day if testing shows no benefits of the same. Remember Instagram Stories-like Fleets that was shut down last year? Yep, anything is possible.
If you've used Instagram Threads app, it used to display similar status updates like the one shared by Wong, who also noted a similarity.?
It's unclear whether Vibes will be available to change for every Tweet or whether Twitter will link it directly to one's profile view. Let's hope only good Vibes make it to Twitter, especially given the challenges of misinformation and bots.?
