WhatsApp will reportedly allow users to share their status updates to Instagram Stories directly. It appears that the Meta-owned app is integrating the status updates functionality across its two apps in the near-future.
The feature is still under development and was spotted in the latest beta version of the app. WhatsApp features tracker WABetaInfo reported that users would be able to choose if they want or don't want to share their WhatsApp updates on Instagram. Users would also be able to control which status updates are shared.
"Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.25.20 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp keeps working on new ways to share status updates by developing an optional feature to share them to Instagram," WABetaInfo said.

The report said that after adding the option to share updates to Facebook, WhatsApp is working on adding this ability on Instagram. According to WABetaInfo, users would always be in control of the content they wish to share by managing their Instagram Stories audience.
"We believe that integrating a feature to allow users to share status updates to Instagram can offer several advantages, with time-saving being a prominent one. In fact, allowing users to share their WhatsApp status updates directly to Instagram enhances the process of updating their status across multiple platforms," WABetaInfo wrote.
This feature could be especially useful for business accounts, eliminating the need to create separate posts on WhatsApp and Instagram. Users can engage with their audience more efficiently once the feature begins rolling out.
In the latest beta version of the app (v2.23.25.20) that is currently available on the Play Store, testers can link their Instagram account with WhatsApp by heading to Settings >> Privacy >> Status >> Share my status updates.
