A standard part of each new year in tech is trying to figure out what new phones are coming out. For Apple in 2019, that apparently means three new devices. They will be followups to the iPhone XS and XS Max, and a spiritual successor to the popular iPhone XR.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is developing three new devices for later this year. The iPhone XR will have a successor that retains the LCD display. Though not as nice as the 2018 flagship's OLED, it does keep down the price of the device. Additionally, the report indicates the device has been in the pipeline for months and altering the design would set it back too far. The iPhone XR is also expected to shift from a single lens to a dual lens camera on the rear.
The other two devices meanwhile will be successors to the iPhone XS and XS Max. The latter is expected to gain a third camera on the rear, as part of a new depth-sensing system from Apple. This will reportedly help with 3D -mapping for applications in augmented reality apps, though it's unclear if the iPhone XS will get this as well.
