The Android app for Google¡¯s popular video streaming service, YouTube, today has surpassed all previous records and has registered a mind-boggling 10 billion downloads on the Google Play Store.

The rise in downloads can also be attributed to more and more people getting connected to the internet, especially in India, thanks to the availability of affordable high-speed 4G connectivity from the likes of Jio, and allowing Indian populations to experience a different side of the internet that was unknown to them.?
Google¡¯s Play Store, while announcing this incredible feat, stated that YouTube was always predicted to become the first ¡®proper¡¯ user-facing app to hit such a download milestone.
It is however important to note that most of these downloads are due to the fact that almost all Android smartphones that come with Google Suite of apps come with YouTube preinstalled. But, it is also important to note that there are three billion Android devices globally, out of which a massive chunk is from China that doesn¡¯t have Google Suite apps installed on them. This surely makes the feat even more mind-boggling.?

Recently, YouTube rolled out the ¡®Super Thanks¡¯ feature that allows users to tip their beloved creators on the video streaming platform while providing the creators yet another way to earn money. This is also expected to strengthen the bond between YouTube creators and viewers.
Fans can do this by purchasing Super Thanks which would see an animated GIF when they use it, while also highlighting their comment among others to which the creator can respond to.
