Samsung Galaxy F54 5G Review: Solid Mid-Range Device That Gets Most Things Right
Samsung recently launched its latest addition to the mid-range price segment with the Galaxy F54 5G. The company claims that this device is able to offer near-flagship features at half the price. Is that true? Keep reading this review to find out.
Design and Display
I got the chance to try out the Samsung Galaxy F54 5G silver variant. The device is very nice to hold and the shimmery silver looks beautiful under the right light - the Samsung Galaxy F54 5G is extremely pretty.
The back cameras are an attempt to make the device look closer to the flagship S23 series, and the front? has a punch hole camera. The device is made of plastic and the front and back panels get a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection against scratches and damage.

The 6.7-inch AMOLED display on the Samsung Galaxy F54 5G is as good as it gets in this price range. The screen has a full-HD+ resolution with a (non-adaptive) 120Hz refresh rate. No stereo speakers on this device can be a big red flag for some users. In addition, there's no on-screen fingerprint scanner or IP rating either.
Performance & Battery
The Samsung Galaxy F54 5G runs on the Exynos 1380 chipset and is based on One UI 5.1 (Android 13). The Android experience is close to pristine, except some removable bloatware. The phone offers a largely smooth experience, but still suffers lag here and there, when a lot of apps are open.
Want a gaming phone? The Samsung F54 might be a decent choice, but not the right one. The gaming experience is average at best, and heating issues can be off-putting. The phone wasn't necessarily designed for gamers. Instead, its main offering is the giant 6,000mAh battery.

If you use your phone for quick browsing and social media, the phone can last up to a whole day. But if you're constantly on your device, it will last for 12-13 hours, which is actually a let down for a 6000mAh battery. Fully charging the device takes about an hour and a half.
Camera
While the device has great camera specs on paper, its camera didn't blow me away. The device has a 108-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS) along with an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. For selfies, the Samsung Galaxy F54 5G comes with a 32-megapixel camera which is frankly sub-par.

The main camera can click good shots in daylight. It can capture details very well and in classic Samsung fashion, makes the colours punchy and beautiful to look at without coming off as overly saturated. By default, it captures images in 12MP (this can be changed in the settings).
In low light settings, the camera struggles in terms of detail accuracy, but manages to offer a satisfactory experience. In the night mode, the camera takes grainy pictures and struggles with stable shots if you're capturing moving objects.
Verdict
An above average device that delivers on most fronts. Samsung has promised up to four generations of security updates for the device at the price of Rs. 31,999 for 8GB+256GB. Gamers and high-end users, skip the device. The F54 is for those who want a good everyday smartphone experience.
