While it¡¯s amazing to see? how far robot development is progressing, it could also be an insight into what a robot-run dystopia would look like. For instance, here¡¯s a hypothetical robotic human-catcher in action on the streets of a city.
Looks familiar?. That¡¯s Atlas, the humanoid robot being developed by SoftBank-owned Boston Dynamics. There was a time when Atlas walked around slowly, taking small measured steps to avoid falling over. But, as you can see in the video below, he¡¯s come a long way, baby!.
It¡¯s a massive achievement for the group, which has been teasing Atlas¡¯ improving capabilities over the years, even after Google abandoned the venture. Granted, Boston Dynamics still doesn¡¯t necessarily have a market for these robots, but we¡¯re sure they¡¯ll be able to find a buyer when their machines can do this kind of stuff. And that¡¯s in addition to Atlas being able to do backflips, wash dishes, and run outdoors along hiking trails.
Heck, Atlas even has a little dog companion of his own, that can hold doors open for his bigger buddy.
