A one-of-a-kind movie was announced earlier this year that would take one of the most celebrated Hollywood actors to space. Tom Cruise, due to be the lead in the movie, had planned to shoot the outer space film along with the tech billionaire Elon Musk. The movie has now been finalised for 2021.
Plans for the movies, first announced earlier this year, mentioned Cruise to have teamed up with Musk and NASA to shoot the new movie in outer space. It was later confirmed that the actor had roped in Edge of Tomorrow¡®s director Doug Liman.
The project is well set for launch and much to the excitement of movie buffs across the globe, will be taking off next year. The most recent confirmation of the same comes from Space Shuttle Almanac on Twitter. In the tweet, the ebooks portal shares more information about the project.
A recent tweet by Space Shuttle Almanac mentions that a ¡°tourist mission¡± will be carried out for the production of the movie in 2021. As per the tweet, the Axiom Space Station, piloted by Commander Michael Lopez-Alegria, will take flight for the same, with both Cruise and Liman on board.
The tweet mentions that one seat in the space shuttle is still left to be filled. Will Musk be on it? Time will only tell.
US space agency NASA had confirmed its involvement in the movie earlier this year via Twitter. At the time, NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine tweeted: ¡°NASA is excited to work with @TomCruise on a film aboard the @Space_Station!"
Not much is known about the movie as of now. It has, however, been reported that Liman has written the first part of the screenplay, and will have a producing credit in the movie alongside Cruise.
The movie is to be shot aboard the International Space Station and will hence likely see Tom Cruise act as an astronaut. Judging from the director¡¯s expertise in the industry, the movie will be an sci-fi action flick, glorifying human expeditions to outer space.
