Locked up in Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Centre as he awaits his sex trafficking and racketeering trial, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, aka Diddy, is suing television network NBC, its streaming service Peacock, and production company Ample for $100 million. The lawsuit was confirmed by the hip hop mogul's lawyer on Wednesday.
Diddy is suing NBC, Peacock, and Ample over their documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy. The documentary explores Combs rise as a music legend and his recent fall from grace owing to the mounting allegations of sexual abuse. Combs is seeking $100 million, citing "reputational and economic harm."
As reported by BBC, the lawsuit claims that the entire premise of the documentary, which premiered on January 14, 2025, assumes that Combs has committed "numerous heinous crimes, including serial murder, rape of minors, and sex trafficking of minors." It added that the program portrays Diddy as a 'monster," making malicious and baseless claims that makers knew were "false or published with reckless disregard as to whether they were false or not."
According to Erica Wolff, the lawyer representing Combs, NBC, Peacock, and Ample prioritized profits over truth and journalistic integrity. In a statement, Wolff accused the companies of "maliciously and recklessly broadcast[ing] outrageous lies," demonstrating a blatant disregard for decency and professional standards.
Diddy is facing a new lawsuit, with a male victim, John Doe, claiming the rapper raped and drugged him in 2022. The lawsuit was filed by Tony Buzbee, who is representing over 100 alleged victims of the now-disgraced music mogul, in the New York County Supreme Court.
In the lawsuit, Doe, described as a "young musician," claimed that the incident transpired outside of a popular nightclub in Los Angeles where the man was performing on the street. It added that Doe was invited to an exclusive A-list birthday party at an undisclosed private home where Diddy spiked his drink with a date rape drug before sexually assaulting him. Doe was reportedly lured on the pretext of helping him secure a major recording contract.
¡°Because of Combs' power and notoriety, and because he was shocked and embarrassed, Doe did not report what had happened,¡± the suit reads.
Diddy was arrested on September 16, 2024, on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. His trial is slated to begin on May 5.
