(Trigger Warning: This article describes disturbing animal cruelty and sexual offenses against animals, which could be distressing and sensitive to some individuals.)
Animal cruelty in the USA is a concerning issue that continues to persist. Examples of such cruelty include dog fighting rings, wildlife poaching, puppy mills, animal hoarding, and farm animal cruelty.
Apart from this, engaging in sexual acts with animals is a deplorable form of animal abuse that violates their rights and welfare.
The shocking act was discovered when a trail camera in Pennsylvania's Rothrock State Forest captured footage of Mr. Matsoukas, naked from the waist down, involved in the disturbing act with his collie earlier this year.
'I do it to blow off steam,' Matsoukas told investigators.
A New York Post report revealed that Matsoukas repeatedly told investigators, 'I'm done, I am dead,' when they interacted with the professor.
He also begged rangers to shoot him, saying, "I need to die," and further told the investigators, "I do it to blow off steam," according to the documents.
"Themis Matsoukas has been relieved of his responsibilities and is on leave," Penn State told the Center Daily Times.
According to reports from local media, US authorities have uncovered evidence indicating that the professor has been engaging in inappropriate activities in the forest since 2014.
The case has sent shockwaves throughout the community and highlights the urgent need for accountability and animal welfare protection.
