'Tax Collector': Elephant Stops Truck On Highway To Eat Sugarcane, Video Viral
Usually, animals stay clear of human settlements, especially when it comes to giant jumbos like elephants. They prefer to keep a safe distance from humans. However, this is not always the case. A video going viral on the internet shows how with time, these animals have also started to assimilate into human spaces.
Elephant Stops Truck To Eat Sugarcane In Viral Video
On Twitter, user Dr Ajayita shared an adorable video of an elephant stopping a loaded truck on a highway. Although the exact location of the video is unknown, the signboard in the video that says ¡°Caution Elephant Crossing¡± indicates that the incident took place somewhere in Thailand.
In the video, a lone elephant waits by the road as it watches scores of cars pass by. Then when it spots his delivery truck which is a truck loaded with sugarcane, the elephant stands up and stops the truck with a loud trumpet. Seeing the live obstacle in the road, the truck comes to a halt.?
As the truck stops, the elephant approaches the goods in the back and picks out a trunk full of sugarcane sticks. Once the elephant has taken his fill of sugarcane, the truck continues on in its path. But the ritual does not stop with just one truck. The elephant somehow knows that the trucks full of sugarcane pass by frequently on the road, so it waits for one after another and stops them to have its fill.

User Dr Ajayita joked in her caption that the elephant was collecting some sort of toll tax from the trucks and wrote, ¡°The Toll Tax collector.¡±
Others online were also fascinated by the peculiar behaviour of the animal. Chiming in on the posters joke, one user wrote, ¡°Badaa imaandaar collector hai.¡±
Yet another doubled down on the tax collector joke and added, ¡°They need to upgrade themselves with fastag.¡±
While one thought that the elephant was simply taking his part of the produce, ¡°It's not tax .. apna hissa le rhe hai.. bare minimum wo bhi..¡±
One fellow was impressed with the truck drivers and the other cars on the road that were patient with the adorable elephant, ¡°I love how the people are cooperating rather than just trying to move forward somehow,seems like they are used to things like these¡±
Another joked that the elephant was in truth a quality checker, ¡°but the truth is that the? jambo has been deployed by the quality control cell of sugar mill to check the sugar content in the canes.¡±
