Bishop TD Jakes, renowned pastor of The Potter's House church, experienced a medical emergency during a recent Sunday sermon, prompting an early conclusion to the service. Following the incident, his team provided a health update to address concerns among his followers and the wider community.
Amid his health scare, Jakes' past connection with Hollywood hip-hop mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs has resurfaced. A federal lawsuit filed earlier this year alleges that Jake was involved in addressing the consequences of certain allegations made against the music mogul.
During a recent sermon, Bishop TD Jakes, 67, suddenly stopped speaking and dropped his microphone. The live stream of the service captured the moment, showing attendees rushing to his side in concern.
Voices in the audience urged those nearby the Bishop to "Back up, give him some space." This prompted the live stream to be abruptly cut, with a voice asking the congregation and online viewers to begin praying.
The church released a statement, saying that Bishop TD Jakes had a "slight health incident" during his hour-long sermon and promptly received medical attention.
The statement added that Jakes is "stable and under the care of medical professionals." The church also expressed gratitude for the "outpouring of love, prayers, and support" from the community.
Bishop TD Jakes was previously mentioned in a lawsuit against Sean Combs. According to reports, the lawsuit filed by Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones claims that Jones has evidence of Diddy discussing how he planned to use his relationship with Jakes to mitigate the fallout from Cassie Ventura's lawsuit.
In a March 2024 lawsuit, Jones claimed that he had ¡°irrefutable evidence" of "Mr. Combs detailing how he planned to leverage his relationship with Bishop T.D. Jakes to soften the impact on his public image of Cassie Ventura¡¯s lawsuit.¡±
Although Jakes was not named as a defendant in the lawsuit, he promptly addressed the allegations to clarify his position. He addressed the rumours in a Christmas Eve sermon, choosing not to dignify the allegations and instead focusing on preaching the truth. His ministry and business representatives have also denied the new allegations, calling them false.
Diddy is currently in custody in Brooklyn, facing various charges. His trial will begin on May 5, 2025.
