The courtroom in Manhattan was anything but quiet as the second week of Sean ※Diddy§ Combs*s explosive sex-trafficking and racketeering trial continued. Monday*s hearing saw singer Dawn Richard deliver some of the most jaw-dropping testimony yet, and it was as chilling as it was damning.
Richard, a former member of Danity Kane, painted a horrifying picture of life behind Combs*s glitzy fa?ade. She told the court she saw him violently assault his then-girlfriend, singer Cassie Ventura, on multiple occasions during their decade-long relationship. One particularly disturbing account detailed a 2009 incident at Combs*s Los Angeles home, where he allegedly tried to hit Cassie with a skillet before unleashing a brutal beating.
What made jaws truly drop was Richard*s claim that Combs threatened her and another witness the following day, telling them ominously that where he came from, people ※go missing§ for talking. She testified that she frequently saw Ventura covered in bruises, describing a pattern of physical abuse that included punching, choking, and slapping.
Richard was not the only one painting a sinister portrait of Combs. Kerry Morgan, Cassie*s best friend from 2001 to 2018, also testified. Morgan alleged she saw Combs drag Ventura by her hair in Jamaica and beat her in Los Angeles. She claimed Combs even assaulted her personally in 2018, hitting her with a wooden hanger and choking her until she sought medical attention.
Morgan revealed she later accepted $30,000 in hush money from Combs in exchange for signing an NDA, which effectively ended her friendship with Ventura. She told the court that Ventura once confided that she felt trapped in the relationship, saying Combs controlled her life, her home, and her career.
The testimony was further corroborated by Combs*s former assistant, David James, who said a female executive once referred to Combs*s business as ※his kingdom§ and described Cassie as ※mouldable§. He claimed he suggested Ventura leave Combs, but she said she could not, he controlled everything.
Combs has pleaded not guilty. His defence insists that while he has a history of domestic violence and drug use, the encounters were consensual and part of a ※swingers lifestyle§.
With the trial set to run for several more weeks, the testimonies are only getting more damning, and Diddy*s empire is looking more cracked by the day.
