The importance of planting trees to tackle the rapid deforestation is being realized across the world. A Turkish citizen Enes??ahin?recently tweeted something that immediately garnered over half a lakh responses immediately. He just has 212 tweets in total on his Twitter account but his recent tweet which started with ¡°I have an idea¡± went viral. The tweet read, ¡°Let¡¯s set an example to the world, and hand down a green country to the upcoming generations.¡±
The tweet was even noticed by an official of the Turkish government who has promised to establish a ¡®National Tree Planting Day.¡¯
Many countries like Australia, North Korea, Kenya and Iran have their own versions of national tree-planting day but Turkey does not have any official program for the same yet.?
Rumeysa Kadak is the Turkish government official who noticed ?ahin¡¯s tweet is the youngest elected deputy of the country. She had replied to the tweet saying that she would further ?ahin¡¯s ideas and true to her words it was brought to the notice of the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdo?an who responded to ?ahin on Twitter himself.?
The tweet reads ¡°This is a great idea, Enes. We¡®ve always worked for a greener Turkey and continue to do so. My friends and I will undertake all responsibility to make sure that we have a national tree planting day.¡±
?
?ahin tweeted in response, ¡°Mr. President, we are very happy that you responded to our call. We are grateful that you are the voice of young people and hundreds of thousands.¡±
The national tree plantation day has still not been decided but the idea has already inspired people. Some citizens on Twitter said they have already started planting saplings.?
Planting trees have become the need of the hour and India made the world record of planting the most number of trees in one day. It happened in Uttar Pradesh in 2016 where 49.3 million saplings were planted in a day. This record was broken in July 2017 when 66 million saplings were planted in one day this time in Madhya Pradesh.?
But then there are also some people who want to cut trees for the stupidest reason. Like in Kochi people are tired of cleaning bird poop from their cars and so they want trees cut as they house those birds.?
?
Needless to mention that it is the need of the hour that we at least?try to restore balance to nature and planting more trees is the easiest way to do it.?
