Owing to Janta Curfew because of coronavirus, cities across the nation came to a halt. Even the city that never sleeps, slept peacefully - yes, Mumbai.?
The ever-traffucked roads of Mumbai, like many other places, saw no traffic on the roads on March 22 and no activities in the sea.?
Maharashtra has been on at least a partial lockdown since before the curfew and people had already begun self-isolating themselves. Due to the non-functioning of factories and industries, the city has seen a fall in pollution levels in the air and in the ocean. Now, apparently, dolphins have been spotted just off the shore in Mumbai, which is not a usual sight.?
Juhi Chawla and some other people on Twitter shared videos of dolphins skimming the waters of Mumbai.?
"These dolphins, known as Indian Ocean Humpback dolphins are very much part of Mumbai's coastal line and have been spotted frequently in the last few years," Shaunak Modi, co-founder of Coastal Conservation Foundation, an NGO documenting marine life of Mumbai reportedly said. Some experts claim that the coming of dolphins to the shore is not new and has nothing to do with less boat activity or lockdown owing to coronavirus.?
Mumbai¡¯s coast line has not seen any major fishing activity in last few days because of growing concerns around COVID-19? outbreak. Coastal activities like that of ships has been limited too.?
In Delhi on the other hand, pigeons ruled over the ever crowded roads of CP on the day of Janta curfew.?
May be the dolphins have been there all along, but due to our busy lifestyles and sea traffic they were never spotted by humans who lived by the shore. Coronavirus lockdown has given people the time to appreciate nature and notice what has been around them for long.?
