Indians are infamous for bursting crackers and fireworks at any given 'celebration', and even though the facts about how much it harms the environment are right in our faces, clearly most people do not give two hoots about the same because, 'mazze'.
Well, turns out, even during a pandemic, especially one where our country has the second-highest rate of infection in the world, people have no chill.
In a not-so-shocking-yet-disappointing incident that took place in Vadodara, Gujarat, people burst crackers and fireworks to celebrate the opening of parks and gardens. Mind you, these people are joggers who like stepping out in the nature to exercise so they could remain healthy. However, when it comes to keeping their environment healthy, they don't seem too bothered.

ANI posted a video of the face-palm moment on Twitter with the caption: 'Joggers and morning walkers at Sayaji Baug garden celebrate as gardens and parks reopen in Vadodara following Municipal Corporation's order. #COVID19'.
Also, who bursts crackers alone, right? This has to be a group activity for obvious reasons and every social-distancing protocol was ignored by these 'fitness enthusiasts' as they continued with their celebrations on the road.
In the video, some people are not even wearing face masks and that is a clear indication of how the pandemic is still not taken seriously.?
India has become the fastest growing hot-spot of the highly contagious disease and the number of cases are shooting up drastically every day. We now stand at the second spot on the list of countries with the highest number of cases in the world.?

If people continue to keep gathering in crowds like this in public places, the rate of infection will only increase and our country will not see the end of this pandemic any time soon. All of us need to contribute as much as we can by staying at home and only stepping out for essentials and work, if needed. Other than that, if you do not have a solid reason to go outside, please don't.
This cannot be stressed enough, but bursting firecrackers like it is a party is no way to go about right now and might warrant action by authorities.
