Take a brief look around you, yes, wherever you are right now. Look around your space, your room, your office and even your washroom if that's where you are. Now that you're done, tell me how many things do you see that are made of plastics?
Last night I saw a video online that was titled as 'Plastic Is Killing Our Ocean' and autoplay landed me from that to 'Plastic Is Killing Our Earth' and then to 'Plastic Is Killing Our Future' and so after spending nearly two unplanned hours on? YouTube like we all do, I had some sort of awakening regarding plastics and the bottom line from all of it is that plastic is killing us.
We all know the ill aftermath that plastic brings with it. We all know how it is messing with our planet, our food and animals, especially the ones who live in the waters. Yet, we're choosing to stay silent in the glory of ignorance. Why??
Did you know that by 2050, it is said that there will be more plastic in our oceans than fishes? Well, there already is more plastic than humans on the land. Of all the plastic that gets produced and used by us, as much as 33% of it gets used once and is thrown away and then where does it go? The average time decided by many types of research is somewhere between 450-1,00 years.?
With that in mind, I am entering a month-long battle with plastics and have decided not to use anything that comes in plastic. I know, it will be hard, since from food to cosmetics, everything is basically coming in plastic bottles, but I will survive and if I don't, I would let you know.
They say it takes 21 days to form a habit and if all goes well, who knows I could really become one of the evangelists, begging the world not to use plastic.?
I will be documenting my everyday life and struggles of leading a lifestyle free from plastic.? ?
I am thinking of using reusable containers instead of plastic bottles and taking my own cloth and khaki bags for shopping. I believe it is in my everyday changes that will help make a difference for the future.?
If you think 2018 could really be the year where you'll take a stride for this planet, then join us. Let us know what you think is the best way to ditch plastic. Tell us how you are making do with these everyday changes.?
