It has a fact well-known that elephants are familial beings. They have strong herd bonds, no one member abandons the other even in times of danger. If an elephant baby gets separated from its herd or mother, it might die of loneliness.?
The elder females of the herd are known to step up when it comes to leading the group and being responsible, and this video that is going viral on Twitter proves just that.?
The video was shared by IFS Parveen Kaswan with the caption, ¡®Leadership is a responsibility. You see how that most experienced female #elephant of herd crossed river first & then? sent a signal for everyone to follow. While she was watching everyone including smaller ones do that. Nicely done¡¯. The time and location of the video are not known.?
In the clip the female elephant can be seen patiently waiting at one end of the river, being the first one to have crossed it. After literally ¡®testing the waters¡¯ she signalled the rest of the herd to come along. She waits by the river side till she is sure that the entire herd has safely crossed to the other side. After all elephants are safe, she goes on to lead them into the wild.?
This is how some people reacted to the video.
Good leaders always lead by example, and if humans need an example of how it's done, elephants might have some pretty important lessons to impart.
