The usually dry district of Rajasthan's Nagaur was in for a surprise on this week as it received a hailstorm that left the district covered in several layers of ice, giving it the illusion of a hill station covered in snow.?

People took to social media to share breathtaking images and videos of roads, vehicles and houses covered in layers of ice. The hailstorm was a surprise event for the locals as they are not used to witnessing such weather phenomena.?
The villages of Chhapri, Maulasar, Keechak in Nagaur that saw the heaviest hailstorm, resulted in heavy crop losses. The hailstorm also affected local transportation.?
However, more than awe, people expressed shock and concern over the unusual weather occurrence in the region which is otherwise known to remain hot.?
A user named Vinod K Meena expressed his concern over the crop losses. ¡®Adversity of nature! Heavy Hailstorm for about 21 minutes in Nagaur district of Rajasthan. This affects farmers, cattle and the crop badly. Delhi rains too! Climate change problem is for real. Hope we take preventive measures in due course¡¯, read his tweet.?

According to the Met department the hailstorm and heavy rainfall in Rajasthan are a result of ¡®western disturbances¡¯ in the weather.
Even as people are waking up to the reality of climate change, incidents like these only serve as a sharp reminder of how Earth is finally reacting to all the exploitation it has been subjected to.?
