Happy Govardhan Puja WhatsApp status images: Govardhan Puja is one of the most important and sacred festivals for Hindus, dedicated to Lord Krishna. Also known as Annakut or Annakoot, this festival is celebrated with special prayers, bhajans, and kirtans, all aimed at seeking Lord Krishna's blessings and protection. Devotees express their gratitude, and cows are especially revered on this day. People adorn cows with flowers, bells, and turmeric, apply a tilak to their foreheads, and feed them green grass, chapatis, and jaggery. Observed on the Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik, this year's Govardhan Puja will take place on 2nd November 2024, a highly auspicious day.
The festival is most popular in Mathura, home to the renowned Govardhan Hill. Here, devotees take part in a ritual known as Govardhan Parikrama, which involves a sacred walk around the hill.
For those who cannot visit Govardhan Parbat for circumambulation, they can perform puja at home. They start by bringing cow dung to create a small image of Lord Krishna, depicting him lifting the Govardhan hill with his little finger. During the puja, they apply tilak, offer flowers, and present kheel, batashe, and various sweets to the image. Circumambulate this cow ding image of Lord Krishna for the 7 times and chant mantras or hymns.
