Hidden Love spin-off The First Frost teases another swoonworthy romance: All about Bai Jingting and Zhang Ruonan starrer

The 2023 Chinese drama Hidden Love stole the hearts of fans around the world with its heart-fluttering romance. Since then, fans have been hoping for a second part. Although a sequel to Hidden Love isn't happening yet, a spin-off of the beloved C-Drama titled The First Frost is creating a buzz online. Starring Bai Jingting and Zhang Ruonan, the upcoming series has been adapted from a novel of the same name by Zhu Yi.

What is the plot of The First Frost?

The First Frost will follow the story of Sang Yan, the brother of the main character Sang Zhi, played by Zhao Lusi, and the best friend of Duan Jiaxu, portrayed by Chen Zheyuan.

MyDramaList's synopsis of the C-Drama reads: Wen Yi Fan, a reporter, went to a bar called Jia Ban to meet with her best friend, Zhong Si Qiao. While she was at the bar, she met Sang Yan, a department manager and one of the owners of Jia Ban. He was Yi Fan's high school deskmate and the guy she once fell in love with. The two bump into each other, and as Yi Fan pretends that she does not know who Sang Yan is, Sang Yan does the same. After some problems occur, the two accidentally become housemates and, later on, reconcile their love once again.

The first teaser for The First Frost was shared by the makers on February 12, while another teaser dropped on February 14, offering a poignant glimpse into the journey of lead characters.

The first teaser shows Wen Yi Fan and Sang Yan exchanging subtle glances in school, hinting at a blossoming connection. As they grow closer, they begin to spend more time together, but their feelings for each other remain unspoken. However, it all changes when a tragedy unexpectedly drives them apart.

The second teaser focuses on their reunion under unprecedented circumstances, as destiny offers them a second chance at love.

?Will Zhao Lusi and Chen Zheyuan make an appearance in The First Frost?

While Sang Yan was an important part of Sang Zhi (Zhao Lusi) and Duan Jaixu's (Chen Zheyuan) story, it's not clear if the Hidden Love couple will appear in The First Frost.

Fans can watch The First Frost from February 18 on Youku and Netflix. The C-Drama will have a total of 32 episodes.
