The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is full of thrills and surprises, from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) MS Dhoni batting at number 9 to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Rishabh Pant going to bat at number 7, keeping all the fans on edge.
Amid this, the previous night's clash between LSG and Delhi Capitals (DC) was the most exciting so far, as it saw a role reversal of Pant, the current captain of LSG, against KL Rahul, the former season captain of LSG, on the opposite end.
Rahul remained unbeaten on a half-century and guided his team home, leaving Sanjiv Goenka high and dry. On the other hand, Pant was dismissed without scoring a run, and once again, he missed his chance to shine. But this time, Pant, who is also one of the most expensive players in the IPL so far, looked upset in the dugout.
Rishabh Pant walked out to bat in the 18th over but was dismissed for a duck. His hand was bandaged, and that is believed to be a reason that held them back. If the injury was severe, he could have been left out, but he was believed to fit since he wasn't.
Despite this, Rishabh Pant's expression clearly showed that he was unhappy for some reason. And the pictures of the same are now making the rounds on the internet.
It seems Harbhajan Singh believes that Rishabh Pant might have received some instructions from the team management that did not sit well with the LSG skipper. After getting out, Pant was spotted engaging in an intense conversation with assistant coach Zaheer Khan.
According to the commentators Suresh Raina and Anil Kumble, the exchange between the duo didn't reflect positively. There are two possible reasons believed behind the incident: one, it was either the team management's or Pant's decision to go for batting at number 7.
Second, Pant was furious and angry as if he had been told something, which made him unhappy. Harbhajan Singh, on the other hand, said on his YouTube channel that his mood was off, too.
"This is my opinion. Some discussion took place about Rishabh Pant, which probably made him upset. We know Pant well. He is a good kid who respects elders and seniors. But is it right? If Pant is struggling for form, would you demote him to No. 7? He is your captain. You send him at the toss. I didn't like it. How can a team win if its captain is unhappy?" he added.?
