Tired of the negative news from Afghanistan? Here's an adorable video that will definitely make you smile. The video features a little Afghan girl reciting English alphabets. The viral video shows the little girl in a classroom where her teacher, purportedly, asked her to recite the English alphabets. The obedient kid with a smile on her face recited the alphabets by heart. She does miss a letter or two, but her cuteness and effort compensate for the flaws.?
The video was initially shared on Twitter by freelance journalist Naser Khan, who in his post said, "A little Afghan girl very correctly pronouncing the basic English language alphabet (ABCD). Afghan girls have spiritual telents, to get much opportunities & responsibilities for their country."?
Later, the post also got attention from Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon. Not only did she fall in love with the video, but many others did as well in the comments section. The clip has over 1 lakh views.
Most women in Afghanistan wear a head scarf in public. The Taliban have said that women should wear long, flowing clothes that cover their bodies and also wear burqas. Some women in urban centres don't cover their faces in public, and others wear surgical face masks.
The adorable video comes at a time when women in Afghanistan are struggling for even basic rights. Ever since the Taliban took over Afghanistan, it has put many restrictions on women. The most recent is their entry into parks.
According to a Reuters report, a spokesperson for the Taliban's morality ministry last month, while justifying the ban, said that women had not been meeting its interpretation of Islamic attire during their visits. It was not known how long the park restrictions would last or if they would be extended across Afghanistan.
Western governments have said the Taliban needs to reverse its course on women's rights, including a U-turn on signals they would open girls' high schools, for any path towards formal recognition of the Taliban government.
