Not a lot of us look at a plate of food and think about where it came from. We don't really understand how much hard work goes into growing the food that we enjoy in various refined forms everyday, and the hardship the farmers have to endure, in the process. However, a?video showing an amputee Indian farmer working in the field, might help put some things into perspective.?
A video posted by?Indian Forest Services (IFS) officer Madhu Mitha, shows an amputee farming walking in the field with a shovel in one hand and a crutch in the other.?
While balancing himself on the crutch, the farmer begins working with a?tool, and then takes a step ahead with the help of the shovel and the crutch to continue with his work.

The motivating video soon went viral and people saluted him for inspiring them to work hard and realise their dreams.
One user said, "This is an example of a hard-working hero..who says no to excuses. Salute to him and God bless him." Another wrote, "it’s called Sustenance! Hard work so that he can feed that hungry stomach."
Someone commented, "Motivated for Life!!! Makes me realize I am already living my dream!!" Yet another noted, "Message: Dont waste ur food. Whatever u order in a restaurant, whatever served on ur table at home or at functions, parties anywhere...don't waste. Every grain escapes numerous deaths to satiate ur stomach. Every grain grows out in sweat of many like this man too. Do respect!"?
It is still not clear who the farmer is and where he is from. While many on Twitter offered help, others?pointed to the sorry plight of Indian farmers and how their interests are still not taken into account by the government.?
Currently, certain?reforms in the farm sector by the government have left farmers fuming.?The Lok Sabha, through voice vote, passed two controversial legislations - The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020. It has already passed Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill.
? The three bills will now be tabled in Rajya Sabha and become laws after the Upper House also passes them.??
According toan HT report, the legislation seeks to free up agricultural trade from allrestrictions and open up the farm sector to more competition; modernise supply chains by enabling bigger agribusinesses to engage with farmers moredirectly; and create seamless access to fragmented markets.
Farmers in Punjab have organised a three-day protest against the bills. They will stage a ‘rail roko’ agitation across the state from September 24-26, a farmers’ body said. Despite reassurances from the government, farmers believe that the bills will render the current MSP procurement system ineffective, leaving them at the mercy of 'big farmers'.
