The video of nine-year-old Quaden, a victim of bullying, went viral a few days ago. The video was recorded by his mother in which he can be seen saying, "I want to kill myself."
Seeing his plight and speaking up against bullying thousands of people came forward in support including actor Leonardo Di Caprio. People donated money in large amounts to Quaden and his family so the kid could at least visit Disneyland and put the episode behind him.
Now, according to reports, Quaden's family will donate the ?355,000 (Rs. 3.25 crore, approx) crowdfunded for him to charity.?People donated this large amount after watching Quaden Bayles¡¯ video of him expressing suicidal thoughts. Quaden, has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia.
However, his family, even though touched by the gesture of strangers, have decided to donate the money raised for him to charity instead.
In an interview with NITV News, Quaden's Aunty Mundanara Bayles said, "What kid wouldn't want to go to Disneyland, especially if you have lived Quaden's life. To escape to anywhere that is fun that doesn't remind him of his day to day challenges. But my sister said 'you know what, let's get back to the real issue'. This little fella has been bullied. How many suicides, black or white, in our society have happened due to bullying. We want the money to go to community organisations that really need it."
Even though Quaden and his family are keen to go to Disneyland they want the real issue of bullying to be addressed. They believe that the community would benefit far more from that than the donation.
The two organisations they are inclined to give the fundraised cash to are Dwarfism Awareness Australia and Balunu Healing Foundation.
This is very noble of Quaden¡¯s family, to keep an entire cause above the happiness of their family. Here is wishing Quaden strength to deal with hardships in life.?
