Sharks are known predators. They are highly-skilled predators who have the ability to sneak up on their prey.?
So, it is no surprise that their predatory skills are exceptional and no match to human beings. However, there are some people who have managed to survive a shark attack.
A 19-year-old woman has shared the story of how her father punched a shark to save her life two years ago.?
Paige Winter spoke about the horrifying experience as part of National Geographic's SharkFest show.
She said she was enjoying a beach trip with her family when she was suddenly dragged under the water by a bull shark.?Paige was playing in shallow waters along with her elder sister and best friend Kale.
Paige yelled for her dad when she felt something grabbing her ankle. At first, she thought her father was pulling a prank. However, after a few seconds, she realised a shark was trying to drag her.
The shark pulled her under the water.?She said it was "like when a dog is playing with a rope and shakes it from side to side."
While trying to wrestle the shark, Paige lost two fingers. Her father came to her rescue and started punching the shark until it let go of his daughter.
"I hit it and hit it so hard, so many times. I remember thinking, 'you're trying to take her but you can't have her,'" the father told The Mirror.
After the incident, Paige was taken to a hospital for emergency treatment.
After a five-hour operation, Paige woke up with two missing fingers and one of her legs amputated.
Her story will be featured on SharkFast, a series that will run on Disney+ and National Geographic.
