In a heartwarming incident, a Hindu resident of Gurugram offered his vacant commercial space for the Muslim community to offer namaz, Friday prayers. This is despite the religious turmoil we live in.
The man is a wildlife tour organiser named Akshhay Rao who owns several shops in Old Gurgaon. According to him, his tenants who are mostly Muslims; were facing several difficulties in offering the Friday Namaz. He said that he made one of his spaces vacant, where 15-20 people can offer namaz and it is not anything special. He also said that he had done this earlier a few years ago, the?Times of India?reported.
However, no private land has been included in the list of places where Friday prayers are offered, the district administration officials said. The officials also asserted that there was no formal approach from anyone to offer private space for namaz.
Usually, Muslim groups are worried about neighbours who would raise objections against Friday prayers. The Muslim groups have not received any formal proposal yet. However, they have welcomed this move by Rao and said it was ¡°gracious¡±.
Gurgaon Muslim Council¡¯s Altaf Ahmad said that Rao¡¯s kindness is the true meaning of brotherhood.
Shahzad Khan of Muslim Ekta Manch went to the district administration and approached them to restore Sector 12A for namaz.
Namaz sites in Gurugram have almost been reduced by half after protests in 2018. 37 spots were recognised for offering; now there are only 20 places where namaz can be offered. After several protests by right-wing outfits, the namaz sites?were reduced.?
