Remember Ranu Mondal, who became an overnight sensation after beautifully singing a Lata Mangeshkar song ¡®Ek pyaar ka nagma hai?¡¯ Her rendition of the song from Shor went viral on social media.
Now, a video has been posted by the police of a homeless woman singing opera at the Los Angeles metro station has gone viral and calls for her to be on a grand stage are pouring in.??
¡°4 million people call LA home," a tweet accompanying the video by the Los Angeles Police Department said. "4 million stories. 4 million voices...sometimes you just have to stop and listen to one, to hear something beautiful."
The video garnered more than 568.7 k views and 10.5k likes. It shows a blond woman singing beautiful rendition of Puccini Aria as she stands on the metro platform with some bags and a cart.?
A police spokeswoman told AFP that the police officer who shot the video, met the woman by chance. As soon as the video went viral online, the local media identified the woman as 52-year-old, Emily Zamourka and said that she is a trained violinist and pianist, who emigrated to the US from Russia, when she was 24.?
But, KABC - a radio station - said that Zamourka has no formal training as an opera singer and had been a teacher before she fell on hard times because of health issues.?
"I am sleeping actually on the cardboard right now, in the parking lot," she told KABC. "I am sleeping where I can sleep ... I have people that feel sorry for me, but I don't want to be a burden to anybody."
She also added that she would be grateful for help to get off the streets and to have a house and some musical instruments.?
"You know why I (sing) in the subway?," she said. "Because it sounds so great."
Several twitter users has told her not to waste her talent like that. Check out some of the comments:
