It is always a good practise to teach children the virtue of kindness from an early age. The success of a society largely depends on the younger generation, and thus it becomes imperative that children are taught the right things from the very beginning.??
IAS officer Awanish Sharan shared such a video on his Twitter account. The video was from a Japanese school where little children were being taught ¡°courtesy lessons¡± by performing a skit.It is always better to teach children with not just words but with actions, and the Japanese school did just that.
In the video, the children are seen reenacting a scenario on a bus where there¡¯s a kid acting as the driver, and other children as the passengers. New children enter the bus area and pretend to be a senior citizen, a school kid with a heavy bag, and a pregnant woman. The children are then taught to give their own seats to the ones who might need them more as they politely make way for them to sit.
People online were impressed with the teaching method used in the?Japanese school. "They forgot to teach the driver one important lesson..never look back," one user joked. A commenter shared his own experience and pointed out how these courtesy lessons could prove to be a boon for Indians, "In a Japanese company in Mumbai, there were?Japanese?visitors waiting for the lift in an orderly fashion, &?Indian?employees who were waiting for the other lifts, rushed into their lift before any Japs could enter & filled the lift." "Indians need to learn more about civilised countries from Japan as we are forgetting our roots because of the overly advanced culture taught by so-called liberal celebrities," another user said.
They forgot to give one important lesson to the driver: never look back.
