A 74-year-old man who suffered kidney failure has become a life-saver for two critically-ill patients who were waiting for organ transplants. According to a report by Times of India, the donor had diabetes, high blood pressure and chronic kidney disease, for which he had been on dialysis for two years.?
His daughter told TOI, "My father was a helpful person and always put others ahead of himself. He would be happy with our decision of donating his organs to help save lives."

His kin donated his liver and lungs after he was declared brain dead, last week. This made possible the first lung donation during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Mumbai's 24th for the year.?
The elderly man suffered a fall at home, and his family rushed him to the emergency at Global Hospital in Parel last week. Dr Prashant Borade, head of critical care department said, "He had a large intracranial bleed which was inoperable."

Dr Borade also added that the family members were approached for organ donation and they approved of the same. The organ retrieval took place on July 30.
After that, the lungs were flown to Chennai after a foreign patient was found to be a suitable recipient.?Arrangements to fly the organ meant a slight delay in the retrieval procedure. The donor's family agreed to it, enabling a team of doctors from Fortis Hospital, Mulund, to retrieve the lungs and send them to Chennai.

It was indeed a noble thing to do, especially since it probably helped save someone else's life.?
