A man from Fort Kochi caught everyone¡¯s attention by turning his terrace into a mini orchard with more than 40 varieties of mangoes. Joseph has successfully grown several 4-feet tall mango trees on his terrace.
Joseph successfully grew mango trees in his 200-little containers which are filled with mud, gravel and fertilisers and the plants do not require much water.
The different varieties of mango trees were grown by contact grafting technique, reported the Times Of India. Grafting is a horticultural technique where tissues of plants are joined so as to continue their growth together.
"I earn from about Rs 600-Rs 4000 for each mango plant I sell depending on its variety," Joseph told TOI.

Where did he learn farming? Joseph learns everything from YouTube videos. One of Joseph's favourite varieties of mango is ¡®Petricia¡¯ which he cultivated nearly 22 years ago and it was named after his wife.
"Petricia variety is 35% sweeter than other varieties. While you can get other mangoes and their plants in the market, you can get Petricia only at my house," said Joseph.
Joseph uses nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium fertiliser for all his plants and has two groups of bees on both side of his terrace for pollination.
