Ever since the the novel coronavirus attacked countries across the globe, people spiraled into a wave of panic and for good reason. Never having known such a highly contagious virus, people struggled to find ways to keep themselves safe. This led to a lot of people abandoning their pets, for the fear that they might give them COVID-19.
However, on the other hand, trying their best, animal-lovers are going out of their way to care for stray animals and even offering to foster abandoned pets since everyone is locked indoors, and has a lot of time on their hands.?
Another heartfelt example that proves that not all human beings lack compassion towards their pets, is this photograph that has been doing the rounds on social media. Posted by IFS Parveen Kaswan on Twitter, the picture shows two people - possibly migrant workers - supposedly on their way to their hometown/village, carrying everything they own and their pets - a puppy and a duck.
The location of the picture is unknown but it is definitely worth a shout out for how the family made sure their pets didn't get left behind.?
According to the post's caption, Kaswan received the picture as a WhatsApp forward and if this is true, it is heartwarming to know that there are people out there who will not leave their pets behind, no matter how bad the crisis is.
The Internet is full of?incidents of people abandoning their pets, from all over the world and it was heartbreaking, to say the least. Pets are family members and you don't go abandoning your family. It's inhumane and unethical, especially if the living being cannot take care of themselves.
In fact, the situation got so dark that pet-owners in China reportedly threw their cats and dogs out of tower blocks in order to 'save' themselves from catching the deadly virus.?
Your pets are your family and they should be treated like nothing less.?
