Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has become a sporting sensation across the country after he won a gold medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020.?
But there was not much we knew about this sportsperson who is also a subedar in the Indian Army, before the Olympics. So, did you wonder how did this guy from a small city in Haryana, known as Panipat, take up javelin???
Well, an old interview of his shared by?BJP's Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga has surfaced on the internet where this rowdy sportsman is talking about javelin and more importantly, his hair.?
When the host asked him, ¡°How did javelin happen, tells us the story?¡±, Mr Chopra requested him to ask the question in Hindi and then went on to narrate his story. ¡°God decided it for me. I used to play different sports in my village (Khandra).?
But once I went to the ground and saw seniors throwing the javelin in the air, I joined them.¡±¡°I did not even know what javelin is. It started just like that and now I'm here in front of you,¡± he added.
When asked whether his long locks were inspired by actor Shah Rukh Khan or cricketer Ishant Sharma, Neeraj said that he just like to keep it long. There is no inspiration.?
People were impressed by his interview and especially loved that he's not afraid to speak in Hindi.?
?
Neeraj managed a winning best of 87.58 metres to go and brought India's first gold in this year's Olympics and also the first-ever gold in track and field event.?
