The 'influencer' culture and shooting videos at prominent landmarks in the world have caused outrage.?
The most recent instance comes from Nepal, where officials and site managers have banned influencers from visiting historical and religious sites like the Ram Janaki and Gadhimai temples, the Buddhist pilgrimage site Lumbini, and Kathmandu's Boudhanath Stupa.
"Making TikTok by playing loud music creates a nuisance for pilgrims from all over the world who come to the birthplace of Gautama Buddha," the Lumbini Development Trust¡¯s Sanuraj Shakya told the Rest of World.?
"We have banned TikTok-making in and around the sacred garden, where the main temples are located."
Security personnel and surveillance cameras have been placed at various locations around Nepal to catch and expel lawbreakers.
A Russian yoga influencer nudely photographed in Bali under a sacred tree earlier this year was deported.
Instagram sensation Alina Fazleeva, also known as Alina Yoga to her followers, posed beneath the 700-year-old kayu putih, or weeping paperbark tree, provoking officials to step in.
She said: "I apologise to all Balinese and Indonesian people; I regret my actions."
The influencer continued: "I'm so embarrassed; I didn't mean to offend you in any way; I absolutely have no knowledge of this place. I just prayed under a tree and went straight to the police station to explain this incident and apologize."
