44 men who lay down their lives in the Pulwama terror attack included Lal Ashwani Kumar Kachi from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Martyred Ashwani was a resident of the Khudwal village in Sihora and his first posting was in Srinagar in 2017.

36-year-old Ashwani was the youngest in his family and one can only imagine what the father went through when he first heard the news. Ashwani was unmarried and had planned to go home and get married. The last time he had gone home was on Navaratri; his parents had somehow made peace with the fact that they'll only see their son next after October.?

On February 14, a CRPF convoy was going from Jammu to Srinagar and about 78 vehicles were in the convoy. More than 2500 jawans were present in the vehicles and more than 40 jawans were present on the bus which was targeted by the militants.

The terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammed rammed a vehicle carrying 350 kg of explosives into the CRPF bus. The noise from the blast had a range of up to 10 km. After the blast, the terrorists kept firing at the convoy.
