In a do-or-die clash at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday, Bangladesh came up short by five runs against Team India denting their chances of semi-final qualification at the T20 World Cup 2022.
Bangladesh looked to be cruising toward the target at one stage only to choke post-rain break. The collective efforts of Team India marked a win in a crucial match against Bangladesh.
But there are so many efforts of other off-field heroes who often go unnoticed and those who help a team like India succeed in crucial matches.
During the India and Bangladesh match, a photo of a man went viral with many praising his efforts. This photo was none other than India's sidearm thrower Raghu Raghavendraa's. He ran around the ground with a brush in his hand to clean the shoes of Indian Players. This photo tells the story without any words.
He did so because the outfield was quite wet due to rain and he wanted to ensure everything was in order and the players wouldn't slip and fall.
Raghavendraa won many hearts during the?Adelaide Oval match.?Here's how everyone's reacted:
Most time, the credit for Team India's success goes to the head coach, but there are a few other characters on the so-called sidelines who are just as crucial to the team
One of them is Raghavendraa, an important member of the Indian cricket team¡¯s support staff. His specialty is throwing the ball really fast. Raghavendra is a shy person by nature, but ask him to throw a cricket ball, and he'll show you his worth.
A badly injured arm forced Raghavendra to quit playing cricket just as he was going through the ranks in Karnataka cricket. Hailing from a small village in Karnataka, he quit his studies and home to follow his cricketing ambitions in Mumbai.
But in Mumbai things didn¡¯t work in his favour, so he decided to go to Bengaluru's National Cricket Academy where he would give throwdowns to the Indian players who were there for training and rehab. And that was the turning point in his career where he developed his unique skill by spending hours at the nets.
His dream to join the Indian team was fulfilled when he was inducted into the team as a ¡®throwdown expert' at the recommendation of cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, who had faced his quick throwdowns at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), in Bangalore.
Raghavendraa joined the team first during India's 2011-12 tour of Australia before being dumped. He staged a `comeback' to the Indian team's support staff for the 2014 tour to England and looks set on being an integral part of the coaching machinery.
Raghavendraa also turned down many offers given by international teams due to his specialized skill. He is genuinely and totally devoted to Team India.
