British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his partner Carrie Symonds have named their son Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson in honour of the doctors who saved the his life as he battled coronavirus.?
"Wilfred after Boris' grandfather, Lawrie after my grandfather, Nicholas after Dr Nick Price and Dr Nick Hart - the two doctors that saved Boris' life last month," Carrie Symonds said on her private Instagram account Saturday.??
She praised the maternity team at University College Hospital in London, who she said ¡°looked after us so well.¡±?"Thank you so, so much to the incredible NHS maternity team at UCLH that looked after us so well. I couldn't be happier. My heart is full," she added.??
According to ABC, the couple named the newborn after Nick Price and Nick Hart, the two doctors who 'saved' PM Johnson's life at St Thomas' hospital last month.
According to ITV news, Mr Johnson, who is currently grappling with the COVID-19 crisis, is expected to take a ¡°short period¡± of paternity leave later in the year.The new family are planning to live in their Downing Street flat along with their dog Dilyn, Downing Street has said.
The couple had announced their engagement at the end of February when it was also revealed that they were expecting their first baby in the summer.?The last child born to a sitting UK prime minister belonged to David and Samantha Cameron, who welcomed Florence Rose Endellion into their family in August 2010.
Symonds, who works for an ocean conservation charity, met Johnson during her time as the communications chief for the Conservative Party.
