The Indian Premier League (IPL) thrill is back again, as the remaining league matches are scheduled to restart on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Today, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are going to face off against each other. This is the first time that fans are going to witness Virat Kohli playing following his recent Test retirement announcement, but it seems it might not be a lucky day for fans, as a rain threat is looming over the match.
According to AccuWeather¡¯s forecast, there is a 70 per cent precipitation on Saturday in Karnataka, which may start to ramp up in the afternoon before peaking right as the toss is set to take place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The RCB vs. KKR match is the first match after the tournament was suspended amid the recent India-Pakistan border tensions, with the BCCI suspending the season for a week.
Recently, Bengaluru and Karnataka have witnessed downpours; however, the chance of rain is predicted throughout the day. There is a 25 per cent chance of rain, which is expected at 1 PM, but the number starts to ramp up until it's touching 58 per cent at 5 PM.
The report further suggests that the afternoon showers are a little touch-and-go, but as the day gets cooler, rain almost feels like an inevitability in terms of delaying the game.
However, the Chinnaswamy Stadium has phenomenal ground crew members, and the stadium has one of the most advanced drainage systems in the country. It will need to come into play as a precipitation chance of 71 per cent, which is forecasted for 7 PM, when the toss is going to take place.

"Also even when the scheduling was happening, 8/10 days has rain forecast. We even got a yellow alert. God knows what BCCI was smoking," another user said.
"Chinnaswamy has a great drainage system, if rain does not come during the match times we can easily have a full match."
