Ever since OpenAI¡¯s ChatGPT artificial intelligence tool was made public, people started making use of the chatbot for all sorts of problems. People have tried out every bizarre scenario to test the AI with, from typing up exam answers to coming up with pick-up lines.? ?
Hopping on the trend, Twitter user Greg Isenberg decided to use the chatbot for a legal issue he was facing with a client who refused to pay him for his services. Geg is the CEO of a graphic design agency. He explained on the microblogging site how he was able to recover over USD 109K in fees without the assistance of a lawyer.
He wrote in a tweet, ¡°Imagine a multi-billion dollar client who refused to pay you for good work rendered. Most people would turn to lawyers. I turned to ChatGPT. Here's the story of how I recovered $109,500 without spending a dime on legal fees.¡±
Greg explained how last year he got into business with a mainstream brand and worked on several projects for them until the communication suddenly ceased.
He noted, "Our design agency has completed hundreds of projects with millions in revenue in design and engineering and has never ONCE had someone completely ghost us on payments." The CEO mentioned how the situation was also affecting his team¡¯s morale.
When his company¡¯s finance and operations team was not successful in reaching the brand, the CEO had the idea of turning to ChatGPT instead of an expensive lawyer. He thought, ¡°What if ChatGPT could draft a bit more of a scary email to draw attention?¡±
They asked ChatGPT to draft ¡°a scary collection email¡± so that they could recover their hundreds of thousands of dollars. They typed in the prompt, ¡°Pretend you work in the finance department and your job is to collect payments from clients. Draft a scary mail that gets XYZ client to pay for $109,500 of services rendered that hasn¡¯t responded to 5 emails. Their invoices are 5 months overdue.¡±
Following that, the chatbot generated a lengthy email. Greg made a few minor changes and sent the email. Exactly 2 minutes later, an executive of the company responded, "Let¡¯s get you guys paid."??
