Kim Sae Ron's ex-boyfriend, "K", has shed some light on the late actress's final days in an exclusive interview with THE FACT. According to "K", Kim Soo Hyun was not involved in Kim Sae Ron's death, which contradicts some of the claims made by the late actress' family. He said that Kim Sae Ron fell into despair due to her inner struggles rather than her alleged involvement with the actor.
This development comes amid a heated controversy surrounding Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron's alleged relationship. There have been defamation cases and allegations of blackmail, with Kim Sae Ron's family claiming that Kim Soo Hyun dated her when she was a minor (15) while he was 27. Gold Medalist, the Queen of Tears actor's agency, has claimed they only dated when she turned of legal age.
Kim Sae Ron married a man she met in November 2024 earlier this year, but their relationship was marred by physical and verbal abuse. Seeking refuge, she turned to her ex-boyfriend "K" for support, which further enraged her husband.
When her husband discovered her communication with "K", he confiscated her phone, closely monitored her movements, and subjected her to verbal abuse. This toxic situation pushed Kim Sae Ron to the brink, causing severe stress that led to multiple self-harm attempts, "K" claimed.

I¡¯m holding back, even though I want to kill you, so I¡¯m blocking you. Just please, f*** off, you useless piece of s***."
Kim Sae Ron confided in "K" about her tumultuous relationship with her boyfriend. She revealed that she started dating him in November, seeking comfort and support during a difficult time. However, the relationship turned toxic, with her boyfriend leaking her private messages and photos, hacking her Instagram, physically abusing her, and verbally harassing her.
She told her ex, "You were the most precious person to me, and I didn¡¯t want him talking sh*t to you. I didn¡¯t want you to get hurt. But I haven¡¯t been able to push you away because I¡¯m that greedy¡ And now we¡¯re here. I got us into this situation and left you in pain and with scars. But I was sincere every moment I was with you. My feelings for you were genuine, and you were the most precious love to me¡ [cut off]."
"K" further claimed that Kim Sae Ron's family showed alarming indifference to her struggles. On November 1, 2024, she attempted self-harm and underwent emergency surgery. Despite being informed, her family didn't visit her, and "K" was the only one who stayed by her side until her hospital discharge. Her former agency generously covered her medical expenses," he said.
"K" vehemently denied allegations that Kim Soo Hyun was responsible for Kim Sae Ron's death, questioning the motives of her aunt, who has been at the forefront claiming to be a grieving family member and blaming Kim Soo Hyun for her death. He found it suspicious that her biological parents weren't speaking out, suggesting it might be because Kim Sae Ron wanted to escape them.
"How can a daughter get married without her family knowing? I can understand, though. The fact that none of them knew about her getting married to the New York man proves how little communication there was between them. They hardly cared when she was alive. But now that she¡¯s gone, they¡¯re digging up a relationship from years ago with a famous actor? There has to be an ulterior motive behind this. I¡¯ve never met Kim Soo Hyun, but I can only imagine how wronged he must feel, getting so much backlash just because he¡¯s a popular celebrity," he said.
To validate his claims, "K" concluded the interview by providing a signed and stamped statement, complete with his Korean social security number.
Additionally, he shared a voice recording of Kim Sae Ron, made at the hospital, where she mentioned needing surgery and requesting financial help (?5.00 million KRW, approximately $3,410 USD) from an acquaintance, rather than her own family.
