The Korean YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute has shared additional evidence that raises questions about the timeline of Kim Soo Hyun's relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron. Kim Sae Ron's aunt has accused Kim Soo Hyun of dating her when she was still a minor, a claim that has been disputed by his agency. However, the agency has acknowledged that they were in a relationship once Kim Sae Ron reached the legal age of consent. Recently, Garosero shared screenshots of Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron's chat, allegedly from 2018, when she was in Grade 11, further fueling speculation about the nature of their relationship.

Leaked messages reveal Kim Sae Ron reaching out to Kim Soo Hyun on August 13, 2018, asking if he uses KakaoTalk (a Korean messaging app). The actor told her he had deleted KakaoTalk and asked her to reach out via Telegram instead. Then, the next morning, she sent 2 more messages to Kim Soo Hyun, asking him to accept her friend request on Telegram. The screenshot was shared on Garosero's community post.
Sharing the post, the controversial YouTube channel once again countered the Gold Medalist's claim that Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron dated from the summer of 2019 to the autumn of 2020. They said, "Actress Kim Sae Ron has explained this situation in detail to her family. So, can we say that Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun have not been in a romantic relationship since 2015? Is this really just a normal conversation between a high school student and an older person?”
They also added, “Why was there a sudden need to delete KakaoTalk and switch to Telegram to talk on a new phone?” questioning Kim Soo-hyun’s intentions as he asked Kim Sae Ron to be his “secret friend.”
On March 17, a viral photo of Kim Sae Ron with a man presumed to be Kim Soo Hyun sparked controversy. Despite Chinese netizens correcting the photo's origin to 2015, Kim Soo Hyun's agency denied the claims, stating the man in the photo is not Kim Soo Hyun.
The agency said it initially ignored the 'groundless' rumours but responded after Kim Sae Ron's family allegedly used the photo to claim Kim Soo Hyun visited her apartment when she was a minor. Gold medalist further accused Sae Ron's family of unlawfully disclosing Soo Hyun's private life and creating baseless allegations, urging them to stop manipulating the narrative.
