Comedian Kunal Kamra took a dig at food delivery app Zomato for a post about the company's delivery partners on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. These remarks by the comedian have come after months when he criticised the Zomato Founder and Chief Executive Officer Deepinder Goyal over a post about the platform achieving a Guinness World title.?
Recently, Zomato took to its X (formerly called Twitter) to subtly criticise customers who do not rate or neglect to give ratings to the delivery partners.?
In the X post, the company wrote, ¡°Some people skip giving ratings to delivery partners; the same people get upset when their work does not get recognition." The post criticised the same users for getting upset when the partners are unfairly compensated.
Responding to Zomato's post regarding the ratings, Kamra sarcastically said that the irony of a company is concerned about recognition while allegedly neglecting the minimum wage and social security for its workers.?
In the post, the comedian wrote, ¡°Someone people skip giving minimum wage & social security same people get upset when they are sent to prison.¡±
As soon as the reaction came in, the post garnered massive comments by netizens that highlighted the disconnect between the corporate expectations and worker welfare. Not only this, but netizens also roasted the comedian in return for just tweeting against others.?
The post shared by Kunal Kamta quickly went viral, garnering over 14,000 likes and over 1.9 thousand reshares.?
One user wrote, "Underpay is offensive. No doubt. But are these gig workers bonded labour? Aren't they getting paid more than what they would find elsewhere? The world isn't just. Accept it."
While an X account under the name @BhartiyNiveshak (BN Ka Parivar), wrote, "Kunal Kamra can hire people and not just give minimum wage but 3x of it. After all, minimum is minimum for a reason and is not maximum.?
"Will he do it or just keep tweeting against those providing work and jobs to others?"
"Some people skip doing comedy in a comedy show same people get upset when people abuse them," another said.?
"Jokes khatam ho gaye?"
"These companies exploit the labour of common people & make crores but don't provide them with basic security. Britishers left but these companies are now trying to replace east india company," one wrote.?
"I know a comedian so bad, he pays his audience minimum wage to laugh. When they don¡¯t, he threatens to withhold their social security. Turns out, the only joke he can land is himself - in prison for labor violations."
